A second wool shawl for the
Afghans for Afghans charity
weaving project
The first project on my new
loom was a wool shawl,
from donated yarn for a
charity project in
Afghanistan
My very first weaving
project was a table runner,
completed in class at a
local art museum, where it
was later displayed as part
of a student exhibit in
August 2008
In a second series of
weaving classes at the art
museum, we learned to
create rag rugs
Afghans for Afghans is a
humanitarian and
educational
people-to-people project
that sends
hand-knit/crocheted and
handwoven blankets,
sweaters, vests, hats,
mittens, and socks to the
beleaguered people of
Afghanistan.  The CURE
Hospital in Kabul requested
shawls for the new mothers
who receive maternity
services.  In response, 500
shawls were recently sent
(including my two) from a
collection point in San
Francisco.  For more
