The dome was made by Technical Innovations in about 2005. I am the second owner. I have used the dome since March, 2006. The wall height is about 56". The distance from the floor to the highest point in the dome is 118", just under 10'. As you can see from the pier arrangement, there is plenty of head room. As far as I know, the dome is in very good mechanical condition.
The blue boxes mounted on the wall contain the Digital Dome Works. These electronics allow the dome to be automated (i.e., open the shutter and rotate the dome as the mount tracks). DDW connects to a computer via a serial cable. There is also a hand controller which is shown below the DDW boxes. DDW operates on 110 volts and supplies 18 volts of power to the 4 dome rotation motors and the shutter windlass.
As shown in these photos, the dome has a door that allows access without opening the shutter. The standard TI approach requires that the dome be opened for access.
The dome is bolted together and could easily be disassembled in about 1/2 day. I transported the parts to Las Cruces from Tucson, AZ in a U-Haul trailer. There is a manual from TI that can guide reassebly and I could supply numerous photos to aid in the process.
